Wanted: Bluetooth identification kit

The excellent Roomware server is Java-based application server capable of scanning nearby Bluetooth devices. The plugin FlickrPickr allows Roomware to match the Bluetooth device names with Flickr usernames. If the two match, the Roomware server displays a web page with the Flickr profile picture and a random Flickr picture from that users gallery.

This makes an interesting digital visualisation of the physical cloud – but it illustrates one of the basic problems with Bluetooth – the lack of identification information and exchange thereof. What are the odds that the Bluetooth device name equals the Flickr profile name?
Earlier attempts include Merkitys-Meaning, a mobile application that tagged photos with the device IDs of all nearby Bluetooth devices. Close, but (still) no cigar.

If only personal Bluetooth devices could exchange a microformat such as a slimmed down vCard with details on the device owner, without having to pair or otherwise manually connect the devices in order to transfer the identity.
